PROJECT LOCATION:  Washington, D.C.

PROJECT COMMENTS:  The United States National Guard continues to train tens of thousands of members, with the aim of protecting the United States and its citizens from disasters and threats.  If you have a chance to visit the National Guard Headquarters in Washington, D.C. – take a look at the large columns that are grouped around a statue.  The columns look like marble, but they are actually finger-jointed wood columns that were faux-finished to look like marble.

COLUMN DESIGN:  Fiberglass Greek Doric Columns.  Fluted, tapered column shafts with Greek Doric capitals and no base moldings / plinths.

PROJECT COMMENTS:  The Poland Library features beautiful, large fiberglass Greek Doric columns that are fluted and tapered.  These are considered to be “Colossal” columns.  Chadsworth specializes in fabricating custom columns from custom drawings – we have the ability to create custom column molds for your project.

COLUMN MATERIAL:  Finger-Jointed, paint-grade Clear Heart Redwood

PROJECT COMMENTS:  The Oskaloosa Public Library prominently displays (2) of Chadsworth’s Authentic Replication wood columns at the entryway.  The columns were sanded, primed, and coated on the interior with asphaltum.  Scamozzi capitals and Ionic (Attic) base moldings / plinths.  Notice how the aluminum plinths have a small vent – this allows for continuous, cylindrical airflow up & down the column shaft, which helps preserve the wood column for a longer period.

COLUMN DESIGN:  Non-Tapered custom rope twist wood columns.  Custom Roman Doric capitals & Ionic (Attic) base moldings / plinths.

COLUMN MATERIAL:  Stain-Grade, solid-stave White Oak

COLUMN SIZE:  12″ x 8′

PROJECT LOCATION:  Elmhurst, Illinois

PROJECT COMMENTS:  Chadsworth Columns provided custom rope twist wood stain-grade (white oak) columns that were utilized for the Darien Center Chapel in Elmburst, Illinois.  The project incorporated beautiful custom millwork, done by Inter Ocean Cabinet Company.  Chadsworth specializes in custom column work.

COLUMN DESIGN:  Architectural Wood – Plain, Tapered column.  Plan Shape D – half round.  Roman Doric capitals & Ionic (Attic) base moldings / plinths.

COLUMN MATERIAL:  Paint-Grade, Finger-Jointed Western Red Cedar.

CAPITAL MATERIAL:  Cast Resin

COLUMN SIZE:  30″ x 19′  |  12″ x 11′

CAPITAL SIZE:  10″ x 6-1/4″ x 14-1/2″

PROJECT LOCATION:  Charlotte, North Carolina

PROJECT COMMENTS:  Chadsworth Columns provided the columns and capitals for St. Ann’s Church in Charlotte, North Carolina.  The project was conducted by Atlantic Commercial Caseworks of Charlotte, North Carolina.  In total, there were (6) columns and (4) Greek Erechtheum capitals.  There were (2) – 30″ x 19′ wood columns and (4) – 12″ x 11′ (Plan Shape K – 3/4 round) engaged columns.
